Objectives

The mission we aimed to achieve by implementing this project was to bring forth qualitative and innovative methods in order to address the inclusion and educational related challenges and needs that we identified, not only on a regional and European level, but also in the realities of project partners. The rationale for this project was guided by the European Union’s motto, "United in Diversity". Even though the EU is home to a diverse range of cultures, languages, and identities, that bring a plus value to the continent in the field of youth life and work, ‘diversity’ leads to massive levels of discrimination. According to a report by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), young people in Europe experience increasingly high rates of discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, and disability. More than a third of young people aged 16-24 in the EU have experienced discrimination in the past five years. These inequalities are due to multiple forms of discrimination: sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, social status, race, ethnic origin, disability and so on. The danger of discrimination and social exclusion is not a problem present only in some countries in the EU, but is also highly relevant for this application, being a real challenge of the partner organisations and their local communities. NEEDS: In this context, one principal NEED emerged and asked urgent attention: to challenge the inequalities and empower social inclusion of youth, particularly of the ones who are facing discrimination. The top 3 NEEDS of youth workers we identified were: --- receiving new resources and becoming more educated about the various forms of discrimination that youth nowadays face; --- learning innovative methodologies for empowering the development of marginalized youth; --- developing and deepening their competences about the creation of safe and inclusive spaces. Top 3 NEEDS of marginalised young people: --- receiving support in identifying and accessing their inner resources and capacities; --- becoming empowered in expressing their own uniqueness; --- being supported in feeling a sense of belonging. The REASON we wanted to create this project is because we wanted to address the rising needs and challenges of marginalised young people and youth workers and to contribute to an inclusive culture where the uniqueness of individuals is held in high regard. Through ‘Imagination: Portal to vision’ we AIMED to develop the capacity of youth workers to increase the social inclusion and empowerment of marginalized and discriminated young people to become architects of their own lives, through innovative and qualitative non-formal methodology rooted in the Deep Imagination methodology. THE OBJECTIVES of the project were: By the end of the project 26 youth workers will: 1. Enlarge by 75% their degree of understanding the impact of various forms of discrimination on the individual and collective development. 2. Enhance by 75% their competences (knowledge, skills and attitudes) related to the innovative Deep Imagination nonformal methodology and its benefits for addressing the problem of discrimination among youth. 3. Expand by 75% their degree of understanding the use and benefits of nature and arts as contexts that enables the learning, inclusion, connection and empowerment of discriminated young people. 4. Implement 26 follow-up action plans for guiding and empowering discriminated young people through facilitating Deep Imagination non-formal methodologies.
