Objectives

Our project was designed to introduce alternative, meaningful ways for young people in Brașov to actively engage in their community, aiming to foster a sense of civic responsibility and individual growth. We sought to empower participants to bring forward their ideas, work collaboratively, and make tangible contributions to their surroundings, all while gaining deeper insights into EU values and democratic principles. The core of this project was to encourage hands-on experience with participatory budgeting, creating a simulation to help young people understand and practice this civic process and understand better the democratic mechanisms. Beyond personal development, we envisioned this project to enhance local appeal for youth. By offering them rich and stimulating opportunities in their hometowns, we addressed the migration of young people to larger cities. Through well-curated activities, we provided an inspiring and productive way for young people to spend their free time, strengthening their ties to Brașov and building a support network within the community. Our project promoted cross-cultural exchange, drawing inspiration from international best practices and promoting international friendships. Participants could see beyond their local environment, gaining insights and connections that encouraged them to become informed, empowered changemakers. By accomplishing these objectives, the project not only enriched the lives of the young participants but also contributed to a more vibrant, inclusive, and engaged community in Brașov, setting a foundation for sustainable local growth and involvement.
