Background

The SKILLS4Water project was developed in response to the growing need for specialized and transversal competences in the water sector, particularly concerning the need to equip young water professionals and students with essential soft skills. The consortium identified a significant skills gap between academic training and the professional requirements of the companies and institutions activating in the water sector. The project aimed to align higher education training with EU water sector policies by designing an innovative curriculum and promoting soft skills that empower future water professionals to increase the efficiency of transnational cooperation on a European level. It also responded to partner institutions’ need to modernize teaching approaches, integrate digital tools, and strengthen cooperation among academia and industry. By enhancing the knowledge, skills and competencies of students and young professionals, SKILLS4Water addressed both local and European priorities related to water quality, innovation, and environmental sustainability.
