Background

We applied for this project after we identified the main need in our schools to reduce bullying among students, to improve empathy, responsibility and reduce aggressive attitudes.100% of students answered that they witnessed a colleague being bullied and 60% of students confessed they were victims of bullying in school. Most of the respondents were victims of verbal or emotional aggression or threats and some of them were even victims of physical bullying. Some of the older age groups were also victims of cyberbullying. The need to implement activities that address these problems was the main motivation for our project. We planned to implement a set of pedagogical approaches to help students improve their behaviour, to acquire the principle of respect for life, for others. We also wanted to integrate disadvantaged students and refugee students from Ukraine, to encourage solidarity and reduce prejudice, reduce discrimination of any type. Our project was motivated by the need to educate our students to cooperate peacefully, to improve their mentality, to eliminate discriminatory attitudes in school. We wanted to help students include in their minds and habits the principle that life has rights in school, in society, in nature.
