The project targeted two groups: teachers and students aged 14 to 19, including those with emotional difficulties, earthquake-affected students in Turkey, and students with disabilities in Portugal. For teachers, the objective was to improve their scientific and digital skills through learning activities, research, and international mobility. Following these mobilities, teachers developed learning strategies in robotics and digital transformation, encompassing both theoretical and practical aspects. These strategies were transferred to four partner schools, facilitating the local dissemination of new practices and innovative educational approaches. For students, the objective was to develop their key European competences through activities in robotics and digital transformation. Students created instruction manuals and participated in digital activities to enhance their digital skills and practical problem-solving abilities. The project also built bridges between experts, teachers, and students, promoting knowledge transfer and social inclusion through school exchanges. It further strengthened the capacity of schools to provide high-quality and inclusive digital education, preparing students for future challenges of the world.
We applied for this project to address the challenges of the rapid technological revolution accelerated by the pandemic. The 2021–2024 Strategic Plan emphasized the importance of digital innovation while warning about risks such as technological misuse and discrimination against individuals without advanced digital skills. Traditional memorization-based education is no longer sufficient to prepare students for a rapidly changing labor market. Although young people from Generations Z and Alpha are considered “digital natives,” they need education that develops critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration, as these skills cannot be replaced by automated technologies. Robotics was identified as a key field to meet these needs, combining engineering, science, and technology. It provides hands-on learning that stimulates curiosity, creativity, and reflective thinking. Designing and building robots develops practical skills, analytical thinking, and teamwork, while teachers improve their digital teaching methods. The project aimed to equip students and teachers with advanced digital and transversal skills to adapt to a changing technological world, while supporting their physical and psychological well-being.
