Objectives

This project was conceived within the broader framework of the UAB Internationalisation Strategy. The central aim was to foster a dynamic and inclusive international environment by enhancing global engagement and intercultural competencies among students, academic staff, and administrative personnel. The project sought to build upon existing collaborations while also laying the foundation for new strategic partnerships. By doing so, the UAB aimed to create a firm and diverse international network that supports mobility, knowledge exchange, and long-term cooperation across disciplines. One of the main objectives of the project was to strengthen and expand UAB's international ties, particularly in the fields of contemporary art, design, and visual culture. These efforts were directed not only at consolidating institutional relationships but also at creating new avenues for collaboration in research, teaching, and artistic production. Through this, the project aspired to contribute to the formation of a more interconnected European Higher Education Area, where knowledge, creativity, and cultural understanding transcend borders. For students, the mobility opportunities enabled by this project were intended as a transformative experience. Participation in exchange programs allowed them to immerse themselves in new academic, cultural, and social environments, broadening their artistic horizons and exposing them to a diversity of contemporary practices. This exposure was key to nurturing their personal and professional development, equipping them with the critical, technical, and intercultural skills necessary for succeeding in a competitive, globalised creative sector. The goal was to support students in becoming globally minded professionals who can actively contribute to both national and international cultural landscapes. Staff mobility for teaching purposes was equally central to the project’s vision. Academic staff participating in teaching exchanges gained first-hand experience of diverse European educational systems, pedagogical approaches, and curriculum models. These experiences were instrumental in enriching their teaching practices and fostering curricular innovation at UAB. By engaging with colleagues abroad, staff were able to incorporate international perspectives into their teaching, thereby enhancing the overall quality and relevance of UAB’s educational offer. Training mobilities for teaching and non-teaching staff played a critical role in institutional capacity building. These exchanges were designed to promote the sharing of best practices and facilitate knowledge transfer in areas such as international cooperation, student services and project administration. By investing in the professional development of administrative personnel, the project contributed to strengthening the internationalisation infrastructure at UAB and to fostering a more cohesive and responsive institutional environment. The overarching ambition of this project was to embed internationalisation more deeply and sustainably within all levels of university life. It aimed to promote a culture of openness, innovation, and mutual learning, enabling the UAB to evolve as a forward-thinking institution aligned with European and global higher education priorities. Through the Erasmus+ programme, the University sought not only to facilitate high-quality academic and professional exchanges but also to reaffirm its commitment to building inclusive, intercultural, and future-oriented academic communities.
