Singidunum University, a private higher education institution, aimed to strengthen its internationalization efforts and increase its visibility within the global academic community. The project sought to achieve this primarily through student and staff mobility, which supported the acquisition of international knowledge and skills by students, while also enabling staff to expand their professional networks and initiate joint projects, including scientific collaborations and joint study programs. Internationalization of higher education is essential for exchanging best practices, building global citizens, and fostering academic excellence. The University has long recognized the importance of international cooperation and, through this project, further advanced its research and innovation capacities, improved the quality of teaching and learning, and enhanced its global reputation. Specific objectives included making Serbia a more attractive study destination, equipping students and faculty with international competencies, fostering a global mindset, and strengthening partnerships with foreign institutions, thereby improving the University’s position in internationalization rankings. In line with these objectives, the University also sought to strengthen its international visibility through participation in major international events such as the EAIE 2024 in Toulouse and TSA’s DanubE+ Cooperation Conference in Bucharest in 2025, thereby actively contributing to European-level dialogue in higher education. The University also aimed to create new opportunities for dialogue and collaboration by hosting events such as the annual International Day and, within it, the Erasmus+ Collaborative Workshop, which brought together representatives of partner institutions to meet each other, exchange ideas, strengthen cooperation, and plan future joint initiatives. The project also aimed to open new opportunities for students to gain meaningful international experience, particularly by enhancing their employability, intercultural awareness, and readiness for global careers. At the same time, the University sought to improve its own institutional capacity by engaging in new Erasmus activities for the first time, such as the Blended Intensive Programmes, which brought innovative formats of cooperation and mobility into practice. Through these initiatives, the University enabled short-term blended mobility and learned valuable lessons about international teamwork and virtual learning formats. Beyond mobility, the project was designed to contribute to wider European goals. By encouraging intercultural dialogue and international cooperation, the project supported the values of openness, inclusion, and sustainability that the Erasmus+ Programme promotes. Special attention was given to ensuring that mobility opportunities were accessible to a broad range of students, including those from less advantaged backgrounds. This approach reflected the University’s commitment to inclusiveness and equal opportunities in higher education. Finally, the objectives were not limited to the project’s duration. They contribute to long-term institutional development by creating stronger links with European and global partners, positioning Serbia more firmly within the European Education Area, and reinforcing the University’s role as an active player in international academic exchange. These objectives collectively reflect the University’s commitment to contributing positively to the European and global higher education landscape.
