Objectives

The project aims to utilise cycling as a tool for youth activism, focusing on environmental issues such as pollution and climate change, with the objective of motivating young people to be activists for positive change in their societies. The "Bike 4 Life" project addresses the intertwined issues of environmental pollution, public health, and sustainable transportation by promoting bicycles as a green transport option. Originating from the "From Pollution 2 Inclusion" previous project we have implemented, it seeks to empower young people to advocate for positive societal change. Through innovative approaches and collaborative efforts, the project inspires individuals and communities to embrace cycling as a viable and environmentally friendly mode of transport, paving the way for a greener and healthier future. We wanted to carry out this project in order to raise awareness about a very important problem in today's world, which is the transition to green and the protection of the environment. We wanted to use bicycles as a tool for youth activism and, at the same time, a way of a healthier life and motivation for others to pass to riding more bikes and fewer cars or similar pollution transport options. During the Youth exchange, the team from 5 different countries learned from each other about cycling backgrounds in represented countries, infrastructure and rule of law regarding cycling, about topics of environment, pollution, climate change, recycling and green transport options/infrastructure. We sought to address the ecological issues in our societies and the need for us to start changing the way we live and be more eco-friendly and more aware of all the things we are doing every day that are polluting our environment. We wanted to motivate the young people to be active promoters of the issues in their societies that they want to change. The overarching objectives were: To promote green transport and personal responsibility in order to address ecological issues; To promote the use of bicycles as a tool for behavioural change towards sustainable development, consumption habits, and lifestyles; Share experiences from different countries regarding recycling, pollution, and eco-friendly practices; To motivate young people to become activists in addressing societal issues they wish to change; To use bicycles as a means to encourage change on a personal level, therefore initiating, initiate a larger group movement for environmental protection, and promoting healthier lifestyles and social interaction; To raise citizens' awareness of the current state of climate change and the importance of preserving nature; To empower young people to actively engage in environmental preservation, foster cultural understanding, and contribute to positive changes in their communities.
