Objectives

DAR YE camp conveys a message: Look around you! - Discover the Abundance of Rural When designing and implementing it, we started with a quote that we liked and that fully describes the idea of the DAR YE camp: "The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun." (Christopher McCandless). We wanted to provide youth with new experiences and learning in nature and through nature within a diverse program in a mixed international environment so that every day brings something new and interesting - plenty of activities that encourage coexistence with nature, creativity, teamwork and personal development. The starting point was that many youths spend a large part of their time indoors, usually in front of a screen and using technology - far from nature even when it is within their reach - condemned to a noisy, stressful and unhealthy atmosphere. It has been noticed (statistics show that), that the companions of modern lifestyles of young people are restlessness and uncertainty, busyness, which is more and more often present in smaller areas, in the countryside. Although surrounded by areas with an abundance of local food, youth are more likely to eat fast food, while busy families tend to get groceries from supermarkets. The consequences of this way of life are far-reaching and are reflected in the fact that youth already face health risks at an early age and are prone to obesity, and all this leads to the deterioration of health in old age. In response to the identified challenges, we wanted to organise a YE that promotes healthy living through local food, outdoor cooking, gardening, gathering medicinal herbs and making care products, providing youth with a unique learning experience and the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature - while the main the motivation for the project and the guiding star in its realisation was to show youth that good weather and being in nature refreshes and strengthens the spirit, mind and body. By realising the project, we wanted to achieve (which we succeeded in doing) to provide young people with participation in the DAR YE camp, which is a little different from the usual youth exchanges - staying in a controlled wilderness so that it brings an unforgettable experience of returning to nature and acquiring knowledge and life skills in the freedom of a unique external environment. Accordingly, the central aspirations of the project were outdoor activities that give a sense of freedom and achievement through actions, such as exploring new places, facing difficulties, meandering through forest paths, gathering medicinal and edible herbs or discovering magical flora and fauna. We also wanted to help young people gain a higher level of self-confidence (building the self-confidence of young people is crucial as they move through their education and everyday life), and by organising YE of this type, in nature and with nature, empower youth to appreciate even more the what they have around them and that it is worth stepping away from the screen and immersing yourself in nature discovering beauty through the most diverse and unique landscapes and outdoor activities. We wanted to encourage youth to get back to nature and learn to use nature and the environment to help them by exposing them to outdoor learning and engaging them in the environmentally friendly aspects of being in nature. OVERALL GOAL: To organise a youth exchange with a focus on raising awareness of healthy lifestyles, the importance and benefits of the nature that surrounds us OBJECTIVES were to: *enable the gathering of youth from 5 European countries to jointly implement a program of non-formal learning on a topic that is socially relevant and of interest to them and develop skills and attitudes, including fostering intercultural dialogue *bring nature closer to youth through their stay at an outdoor camp and show them its beautiful side, sensitising them, showing what nature generously offers us *provide youth with a rich program of outdoor activities and empower them through non-formal learning in nature, throughout nature and immersion in nature *help youth develop healthier lifestyles and understand the interconnectedness and think about systems of responsible lifestyles and consumer habits - eating locally sourced food, natural products for beauty and body care, activities in nature *empower youth to enjoy nature using its benefits and give them the idea to develop similar activities for their well-being and the well-being of the community they come from *show youth how to live in a sustainable community and thus understand environmental-friendly solutions in practice and their integration into everyday life *engage youth to learn more deeply about how their actions can positively affect nature, with emphasis on things: Respect, Protect, Enjoy (responsible behaviour in nature)
