The project "Education is OURS" aimed to bridge the gap between formal education and the real needs of children and youth in the 21st century. Its primary goal was to create opportunities for young people to actively engage in shaping their educational environment, fostering life skills such as critical thinking, creativity, empathy, and collaboration. By involving young people in addressing challenges within their schools, the project sought to promote active citizenship, social inclusion, and a sense of empowerment among participants. To achieve this, we trained a group of motivated young individuals who were passionate about making a positive impact in their communities. These facilitators collaborated with teenagers in schools through workshops that encouraged open dialogue and innovative problem-solving. Additionally, we trained teachers who, working closely with teenagers on the same topics, also played a key role that strengthened the project's overall impact and extended its reach within the school community. Teenagers who participated in the workshops explored real-life challenges in their school environment and developed ideas to address them. Through these activities, they cultivated essential life skills and built a sense of agency, demonstrating their ability to contribute meaningfully to their communities. The project also fostered collaboration and connection among participants. Facilitators and teachers worked together with students to promote solutions that aligned with the vision of a school environment focused on happiness and well-being. The results of their efforts were shared in a public event, inspiring further dialogue among stakeholders and contributing to the broader conversation about education reform. By empowering teenagers and creating spaces for their active participation, "Education is OURS" successfully contributed to its objective of fostering a more inclusive, equitable, and democratic educational system.
