Objectives

Our aim is to enable an international experience to as many of our students and staff as possible. Financial reasons are in many surveys (for example EUROSTUDENT 8 Synopsis of Indicators 2021–2024) mentioned as the main obstacle for not going abroad. With the support of Erasmus+ we hope that we are decreasing the obstacle especially for our undergraduate, master and doctoral students. Our university has a focus on building strong European collaborations and Erasmus+ provides a well-known frame within which these collaborations can take place. Many of Malmö University’s education programmes are aimed at societal development. We encourage our students to become change agents, a person that contributes to actual change and development of the society. In this aspect, an international experience that we can offer for our students contributes to their development as a change agent through a wider perspective. Delivering on our strategic commitment to global engagement requires that we foster globally competent students, facilitate research that addresses and has impact on global challenges, work actively with international collaboration and global outreach and ensure that our academic environments and activities promote an inclusive global university for all. Malmö University’s fundamental strategy documents, Strategy 2022 and Agenda for Global Engagement 2020-2026, are in line with the vision of the European Education Area and the aims underpinning the Erasmus+ programme. Erasmus+ is imperative for enabling both our own and incoming students and staff to benefit and learn from international collaborations and exchange. The same to fulfil Malmö University’s underlying strategic objective to provide high-quality education and research through which, in collaboration with other societal actors, the university creates, shares and disseminates knowledge to understand, explain and develop society. The Erasmus+ programme contributes to common denominators, structures, references and trust within the European Union. Erasmus+ brings people together, it is building bridges, and it is helping the dissemination of the European Union’s ideals, democracy and European values. We are building strong European collaborations through Erasmus+ and our strategy ‘Kraftsamling Europa’ (Focus EUrope). There is an action plan for ‘Kraftsamling Europa’ with the aim of strengthening the University’s position within European university networks, increase funding within Horizon Europe and the Erasmus+ programmes and also to strengthen the University's visibility internationally. This also includes aims to develop and strengthen the European educational collaborations within Erasmus +, with a focus on our European Universities Initiative: The European University of Cities in Post-Industrial Transition (UNIC).
