Mälardalen University (MDU) regards the Erasmus+ project as a vital component of its internationalisation efforts. The programme provides students, teachers, and staff with the opportunity to spend time at partner universities and experience daily life abroad. Such experiences foster intercultural understanding, knowledge, reflection, and perspectives that cannot be gained to the same extent through regular classes or meetings at home. For students who do not participate directly in the programme, it is still highly valuable when their teachers engage in exchanges. These teachers return with new teaching methods and fresh insights that can be applied at the university. Meanwhile, teachers who do not take part in exchanges benefit from a deeper understanding of cultural differences, which enhances their interactions with students and colleagues from other countries. The Erasmus+ project also strengthens internationalisation at home by welcoming incoming students and staff, who enrich the academic environment with their diverse cultures, background, knowledge, perspectives, and contributions. The university's objective with the Erasmus+ project is to broaden the horizons of its students, teachers, and staff through exchange, collaboration, and internationalisation at home, ensuring that all courses completed abroad are fully recognised and transferable towards students' degrees.
