The Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) aimed to strengthen international collaboration and promote meaningful mobility experiences through the implementation of the Erasmus+ project. Our primary goal was to contribute to knowledge sharing across European higher education institutions while making effective use of available grants. By offering students and staff opportunities to engage in diverse academic and cultural environments, we sought to foster a deeper understanding of global perspectives and encourage reflection beyond conventional frameworks. This project was closely aligned with SSE’s core values, summarized in the acronym FREE: Fact and science-based, Reflective and self-aware, Empathic and culturally literate, and Entrepreneurial and responsible. Internationalization is a key driver of these values, and through Erasmus+, we aimed to support the development of future change-makers who are equipped to lead with social awareness and a global mindset. In response to today’s geopolitical and economic uncertainties, the project emphasized the importance of connecting students, faculty, and staff across borders. These connections are essential for building the tools and insights needed to address global challenges collaboratively. Student mobility, in particular, was prioritized as a means of cultivating leadership, empathy, and innovation among participants. By implementing this project, SSE sought to provide students not only with academic qualifications but also with practical experience through traineeships abroad. This combination of theoretical and hands-on learning enhances employability and prepares students to thrive in a dynamic and interconnected world. Ultimately, the Erasmus+ project supports SSE’s mission to be a stepping stone for students to become responsible, reflective, and entrepreneurial leaders with a strong international outlook.
