Objectives

Halmstad University’s (HU) vision is to add value, drive innovation, and prepare individuals and society for the future. Within this vision, international collaboration and mobility are key instruments to strengthen quality in education and research. By implementing the Erasmus+ project, HU wanted to provide students, teachers, and staff with opportunities to broaden their horizons, develop intercultural understanding, and acquire new skills that are crucial in a globalised world. Study and training abroad not only enhance employability but also contribute to developing engaged and responsible global citizens. A central objective was to increase the number of both outgoing and incoming mobilities, in line with HU’s strategy for internationalisation and education. By doing so, we aim to raise the overall quality of our programmes, stimulate cross-cultural dialogue, and ensure that international experiences become accessible to students from all disciplines and backgrounds. This ambition also supports the European Education Area target that 25% of students should participate in a mobility experience during their studies. The Erasmus+ project has also been an important tool to deepen our long-term strategic relationships. Through initiatives such as Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), we explored new and more inclusive pathways for student mobility, while staff and teaching mobilities contributed to strengthening internationalisation at home. Incoming exchange students and visiting lecturers enrich our classrooms with diverse perspectives, fostering an international learning environment for all students. Finally, the project has provided valuable synergies with Halmstad University’s participation in the European University Alliance HEROES. The Erasmus+ framework supports and complements this collaboration, opening new opportunities to integrate mobility, joint learning, and research initiatives with our consortium partners. In this way, the project not only supported HU’s strategic goals but also contributed to building stronger European cooperation in higher education.
