Objectives

Mobility for students and staff is a vital tool for fostering international understanding and cultural exchange. At Högskolan Väst (HV), a small regional university, internationalization has been a prioritized area since 2019. The societal challenges we face today are complex and global in nature. Addressing them requires a combination of local, regional, and international perspectives in both education and research. As a university, HV is committed to contributing scientific expertise and working transnationally in line with our mission statement: Together with society at large, we create and disseminate knowledge, skills, expertise, and learning. Internationalization is crucial to fulfilling our mission as a leading university and to making knowledge accessible to many. Our priority goals have included: Integrating an international perspective into all courses and study programmes. Ensuring that all courses and programmes offer opportunities to study at, or interact with, at least one foreign partner higher education institution (HEI) within the relevant disciplinary domain. Creating opportunities for Swedish students to engage with international students and teachers. Developing a functional support structure for collaboration with prioritized international HEIs. The Erasmus mobility programme has played a key role in helping HV achieve these goals. HV continues to take active steps to strengthen the international dimension across all areas of the university. New and emerging initiatives, such as BLPs and the European University Initiative, are highly prioritized by management. Erasmus mobility provides essential tools to support these efforts. HV is now a proud member of the STARS EU Alliance.
