Objectives

Chalmers University of Technology’s Erasmus+ work is closely aligned with European higher education priorities, including digitalisation, inclusion, skills development linked to labour market needs, and the building of European university networks. Through this project, Chalmers aimed to translate these ambitions into measurable results for our students and staff. The key objective was to ensure that all students graduate with strong intercultural competences. The project has contributed significantly to this: survey data show that nearly all outgoing students report gains in intercultural skills, language development, and employability. For staff, more than 90% highlight increased sector-specific competences and over 80% improved intercultural and social skills, confirming that mobilities are strengthening both individual and institutional capacity. Another central goal was to deepen and structure cooperation with strategic partners. This has been realised through high satisfaction rates with academic quality abroad (close to 100% positive for course content and teaching methods), and through initiatives such as Blended Intensive Programmes within the ENHANCE alliance. These outcomes confirm that our collaborations are delivering tangible value. Finally, the project has supported Chalmers’ long-term vision of becoming a world-class university by ensuring that mobility contributes not only to academic quality, but also to the broader internationalisation of education and research. With recognition rates averaging 95–96% of planned ECTS, and participants acting as ambassadors upon return, the project has demonstrably advanced both Chalmers’ internationalisation strategy and the Erasmus+ objectives.
