Objectives

The Swedish Defence University sets out in its Vision 2030 to be a world leading university in the fields of defence, crisis management and security. Increased internationalization is identified as a key element in the realisation of this general goal of the vision, involving internationalization of all levels of research and education. This means the university is set to enroll more international students both as degree seeking students and students on international exchange, including the an increased opportunity for teacher and staff exchanges. The goal is also to recruit a larger amount of international teaching staff. This means that internationalization efforts both in education and research is of vital importance and the active participation in the Erasmus+ programme is one important aspect to achieve this. In October 2025 there is a forthcoming update of the Vision 2030 to better reflect the current national and global challenges and their impact, highlighting to a greater extent the need for international collaborations in the academia and for the universities in the field of defence and security sector specifically.
