Objectives

The overall aim of the project was to promote young people's mental health through artistic creation, intercultural exchange and participatory learning. We wanted to create a safe and inclusive environment where young people could explore their feelings, increase their understanding of mental well-being and strengthen their self-esteem. The starting point was the WHO's definition of mental health as a state of well-being in which the individual can cope with the stress of life and can contribute to society. The goal of the project was to provide young people with knowledge, strategies and concrete tools to better understand and take care of their mental health in everyday life. Through workshops in various aesthetic forms of expression such as theatre, music, dance and digital art, the participants were given the opportunity to process and express their thoughts and experiences in a constructive and creative way. The artistic process was interactive and participant-driven, which contributed to meaningful learning where the young people's participation, initiative and interaction were at the center. The aim was to reduce negative attitudes linked to mental illness and break down prejudices through dialogue, cooperation and co-creation. The meeting between young people from different countries built understanding, trust and community. By working together towards a common goal, to create and perform a public performance, the sense of belonging was strengthened, both within one's own group and in a wider European context. This process not only promoted mental health but also developed the participants' ability to cooperate, communicate and act as active citizens in society. The project was in line with the Erasmus+ programme's cross-cutting objectives by promoting inclusion, sustainable development, digital competence and the active participation of young people in society. By working artistically and reflectively with themes around mental health, the project created conditions for young people to build self-awareness, strengthen their relationships and develop skills that are crucial for living a good and sustainable life, both personally and in society at large.
