Our institution is a small higher vocational college operating in the field of food science and nutrition. Through Erasmus+ projects, the institution is engaged in international cooperation with higher vocational and higher education institutions as well as other organisations outside Slovenia. In the period 2021–2027, partnerships were successfully established with three new higher education institutions, six institutions from the European Union, and one new country. These collaborations provide opportunities for the exchange of valuable experiences, the acquisition of new knowledge, and their transfer. The main objective is to further develop and strengthen cooperation with institutions in food science, nutrition, and related sectors in Europe and beyond. Particular emphasis is placed on cooperation with Croatia, with which there are numerous ties due to a long-standing shared history. Efforts are focused on linking European educational institutions to jointly create comparable and efficient programmes that allow the automatic recognition of qualifications and credits. The institution aims to exchange experiences, acquire new knowledge, and transfer it internally and externally. At the same time, it promotes a healthy lifestyle, intercultural understanding, tolerance, innovation in food science, and the continuous improvement of the educational process. The project offers students additional opportunities that are not mandatory or included in the regular study programme, thereby increasing the value of their studies. The objectives pursued within the projects are clearly aligned with the Erasmus Charter and the Erasmus Policy Statement, which define the institution’s commitment to high-quality international cooperation. Ensuring equal opportunities for all students is a key priority, with special attention to those with fewer opportunities, so that mobility is not a privilege but an accessible opportunity for all. Another important objective is the promotion of gender equality. Considering the gender structure of students and staff, this is also reflected in the mobilities carried out, where an appropriate balance is maintained. In recent years, greater attention has been devoted to the development of digital competences, as digitalisation represents one of the key priority areas of the Erasmus+ programme and of modern life in general. Although mobilities are not directly focused on digital education, digital competences naturally develop during mobility. The institution therefore aims to further raise awareness of the effective use of digital tools in everyday work and life. The sustainability dimension of Erasmus+ projects is equally important. The institution is committed to sustainable development at several levels – through courses in the study programme that include environmental content and through projects implemented for this purpose. Broadening horizons through contact with other cultures, reducing prejudice, fostering openness towards different perspectives, improving adaptability to various situations, as well as strengthening self-confidence and independence are among the objectives achieved through student mobilities. In addition, the employability of participants is enhanced both in Slovenia and across the European Union and beyond. Another objective is to increase interest in food science and nutrition, which is essential for the survival of humanity. In recent years, a decline in interest in education in this field has been observed throughout the educational system; therefore, the institution strives to stimulate renewed interest. The possibility of international mobility has proven to be an attractive factor in the decision to pursue such studies. For staff, lifelong learning, personal development, and educational innovation are strongly encouraged, together with openness and adaptability. They are motivated to exchange experiences with foreign partners and to transfer new knowledge to students, secondary school pupils, colleagues, Slovenian companies, various associations, and international partners. Projects bring many ideas that can be applied in teaching and strengthen engagement at local, national, and international levels. At the national level, the institution contributes to curriculum renewal and publishes professional papers, while at the international level it builds strong partnerships that enable long-term cooperation and the exchange of good practices. Among all participants, the strengthening of European identity and EU values is also encouraged. Through these projects, the institution seeks not only to maintain but also to further enhance the internationalisation of its activities, which plays a key role in modern society. In its work, the institution strives to act in accordance with the Erasmus Charter and the Erasmus Policy Statement, which enable the effective achievement of international cooperation objectives and contribute to the success of all stakeholders.
