Objectives

BIC Ljubljana has been actively involved in Erasmus+ projects in the field of Higher Education (HED) since the very beginning of our higher vocational school. Our strategic goals and priorities are outlined in our European Policy Statement, available here: https://www.bic-lj.si/sites/default/files/inline-files/European%20Policy%20Statement_12dec23_ENG.pdf Mobility projects play a vital role in the development and visibility of our institution both nationally and internationally. They enable the exchange of experiences, the sharing of best practices, and the acquisition of professional knowledge. In the future, we aim to further strengthen our international activities by expanding our network of partner institutions and exploring opportunities for joint projects abroad. As a vocational school, we maintain constant contact with industry experts from Slovenia and abroad, as the professional field evolves rapidly. Every two years, we organize an international professional conference, which we link to the Erasmus+ programme, providing participants and the wider professional community with access to current international knowledge. We also participate in the Community of Higher Vocational Schools, which supports our international engagement by offering additional placements for student internships and staff mobility. International cooperation allows our students to access the latest trends in their field of study, acquire new knowledge and skills, and enhance their career prospects. For staff, mobility supports continuous professional development. Feedback from employers confirms that our students are well-prepared and quickly adapt to the work environment. With high-quality educational programmes, professionally supported staff, and strong domestic and international connections, we rank among the leading educational institutions in our fields and actively contribute to shaping new trends and directions. Through mobility projects, we aim to provide our students with valuable work experience abroad. We also strongly encourage staff participation in mobility, as their international experiences help motivate students and colleagues to pursue internships abroad. From experience, we know that students return from mobility with new professional and personal competencies. Through Erasmus+ activities, we raise awareness of how invaluable international work experience is and how it strengthens their position in the labour market. With support from our National Agency CMEPIUS, we help students recognize and articulate the competencies gained during mobility and incorporate them into their CVs. Staff mobility enhances professional expertise and ensures that teaching content reflects current trends both locally and internationally, thereby improving student employability. We integrate our conference Trends and Challenges in Food, Hospitality, Tourism, Education and Training with Erasmus+ and invite international speakers to bring global perspectives to our institution. This also provides an international experience to those who, for various reasons, do not go abroad. We actively promote additional inclusion funding to encourage participation among all students and staff. International activities are embedded across various areas of our institution, and we strive to interconnect them. We are the lead partner in the ENVIRASMUS project (VET, KA2 – large-scale partnerships), which addresses the green priority of Erasmus+. As part of the project, we developed an app and website that raise awareness about sustainable living among mobility participants. Through workshops, students are prepared for sustainable living in the host country. All Erasmus+ students are automatically included in the project. International cooperation plays a key role in our development, quality enhancement, and the effectiveness of our daily operations.
