The Association of Slovenian Higher Vocational Colleges (Skupnost VSŠ) is the representative body of higher vocational colleges in Slovenia, systematically ensuring their development, quality, and visibility. Due to their small size and strong regional orientation, many higher vocational colleges face limited human and financial capacities, which in the past hindered their internationalisation. This is why the establishment of the consortium in 2011 was a strategically important step, as it enabled member institutions to access international opportunities that would have been difficult to achieve individually. Internationalisation is recognised as a key element of development in all strategic documents we follow (the National Strategy for the Development of Higher Vocational Education 2020–2030, the Strategy for the Internationalisation of Higher Vocational Education in Slovenia, and the Development Plans of the Association of HVCs). It directly contributes to raising quality, broadening professional horizons, and strengthening the competitiveness of both students and staff in the labour market. Participation in national and international projects further supports internationalisation and enables the transfer of good practices into the Slovenian context. To this end, within the Erasmus+ consortium 2020–2027, we have set clear objectives: - to increase the number of students undertaking study exchanges and traineeships abroad, - to expand the number of international staff mobilities, - to increase the number of incoming experts from abroad, - to strengthen the support environment to ensure the high-quality implementation of mobilities and equal access for all students. To achieve these objectives, we also follow a set of priorities reflecting the specific characteristics of the higher vocational education sector: - extend mobilities to participants beyond senior management staff, - increase the number of visiting lecturers, - broaden cooperation with international partners towards bilateral institutional partnerships, - organise long-term sectoral group mobilities, - develop group mobilities for specific categories of staff, - implement group mobilities of leadership personnel where these contribute to the strategic development of the consortium and the strengthening of international networks. In this way, Erasmus+ within the HVC consortium is not merely an instrument for sending students and staff abroad, but a key platform for the internationalisation of Slovenia's entire sector of higher vocational education. It connects students, staff, management, and international partners, building long-term, sustainable impacts for all stakeholders.
