Objectives

The main objective of the project was to develop and implement a comprehensive, competence-based educational framework focused on inclusive workplace design and the integration of workers with disabilities. This included improving the knowledge and skills of educators and trainers, developing innovative teaching materials, testing new high-tech knowledge about ergonomic workplace design, and strengthening cooperation between universities and stakeholders. The project also aimed to enhance inclusive education practices, support sustainable employment, and increase awareness of the importance of ergonomic and accessible work environments. A key goal was to ensure transferability and long-term impact by integrating results into study programmes and supporting policy development.

Background

The project was initiated to address identified gaps in knowledge, training, and practical support related to the integration of workers with disabilities into the working environment. Research by the consortium and consultations with employers identified a clear skills gap, especially during the transition into employment, including limited competences in ergonomic and inclusive workplace design. The need for innovative, inclusive, and competence-based training approaches was particularly evident in higher education and professional training. The project responded to these needs by providing a strong analytical foundation, identifying real-life challenges, and ensuring that future activities were aligned with actual requirements of workers with disabilities, educators, and employers.
