The project included both a youth exchange and various training activities for youth workers to work in the field of film or media education of young people. In addition to getting to know each other, sharing experiences, creating connections, we wanted to train them to work as mentors or of people who will carry out activities in their environments, which, like this project, will have as their main goal the promotion of social engagement and the empowerment of young people with the help of the media or making short films. The main purpose is therefore to develop high-quality film education projects that give young people the opportunity to create films together, get to know each other, expand cultural horizons, get to know the environment and society, motivation for social engagement, critical observation of society in general, rethinking their position and role in society, and give them tools for expressing their thoughts and feelings, sharing stories that have marked or inspired them... In addition to a series of activities for the training of mentors and the development of youth work in the field of film education, we created a 13-day laboratory in Krško in the form of a community exchange, which served as an opportunity for young people to research social issues in the local environment. In international teams, they presented their observations, feelings, inspirations in the form of short documentaries and experimental films. We also designed the workshops as a place for self-reflection, reflection on one's own values and principles, breaking stereotypes and learning. By meeting young people from different countries, they gained information and insight into life in different parts of Europe. In addition to making friends, we wanted to encourage young people to share experiences, skills and knowledge in connection with filmmaking. In general, with the activities, we wanted to connect young people as well as youth workers from different parts of Europe, who will keep in touch even after the project and collaborate again in the future and possibly design further joint projects. We also encouraged them to critically observe and reflect on society and its structures, how to find out what and how young people think and see society, which topics touch them the most and what they want to share or point out, which issues they think are the most pressing in today's society . One of the goals is, not least, the creation of film products that would reflect the thinking and experiences of young people. Short films are a mirror to society, a picture of what young people learn and experience. At the same time, they are also a document, a presentation of a small part of society through the lens of young people from different backgrounds. The resulting films serve as motivation for young people for further work, as they can share them in their narrower and wider social circles, at festivals and various online platforms and social networks. They are also proof of their creativity and social engagement, which will benefit them in their professional, artistic or academic career and enable them to create new contacts and networks. The resulting films can open debates on various social topics and draw attention to certain issues, and at the same time promote the positive values of the EU, which are based on respect for human rights, sustainable development, the rule of law, solidarity, social justice and tolerance for others. During the project's activities, above-average short films were also created, which are already traveling to various international festivals around the world and present their message and part of society to a wide audience beyond local borders.
