Objectives

The main topic of the project "I have autism, so what" was the exchange of experiences of young people with autism (the exchange of useful and effective strategies of young people with autism for a better quality of life) and empowerment to face the challenges brought by changes in life. The participants strengthened their communication and interaction skills with new people in a new, unfamiliar environment, improved their knowledge of English and learned the basics of Slovenian or Latvian. They gained an experience that strengthened their confidence to travel abroad independently. By getting to know their peers from another country, their culture and way of life, they became more open to other cultures and tolerant, and their sense of European citizenship also strengthened. The involved organizations gained their first experience with the planning and implementation of an international youth exchange and empowered themselves to implement similar projects in the future. The results of the exchange were also shared with the general public in the form of a photo exhibition.
