Objectives

The project aimed to bring together young people from countries all over Europe and provide them with a safe environment for intercultural exchanges in a non-formal learning environment, with a particular focus on themes related to conflict and peace. Through an exchange of experiences, we wanted the participants to get to know the participating countries, especially BiH, Ukraine and Belarus (the Belarusian participants were from Lithuania) and the conflicts or wars their countries are facing or have faced. We have already held a youth exchange titled Youth in (un)peaceful Europe in September 2022, therefore this exchange was a kind of follow-up to our previous exchange, with added content and a new context (war in Europe - in Ukraine). Through this exchange, we wanted to make the young participants more aware of the importance of respecting the society we live in, of learning about new cultures, of embracing diversity, and of finding a common language and a way to take responsible action to spread peace. We also wanted to raise awareness among the participants and the general public about the fact that peace in Europe is no longer a given (e.g. the war in Ukraine, the unrest in Belarus and the Balkans). This project was designed on a "youth for youth" basis, as most of the organisers and partners are under 30 years of age, and over 10 participants helped to run the workshops of this exchange. The objectives of the project were: - To raise awareness on peace, intercultural cooperation, conflict management and resolution and non-violent communication among young people, - to create a climate of mutual understanding to prevent intercultural conflicts, - learn why the war in BiH (where the exchange took place) happened and what lessons can be learnt for the future, - to encourage young people's involvement in community life to prevent negative attitudes towards people from other cultures and countries, - to increase creative thinking as a starting point for spreading information on the topic, - contribute to greater knowledge, tolerance and peace among young people, - to be part of the promotion and development of non-formal learning.
