At the MaMa Network, through our previous Erasmus+ projects (as partners or applicants), we have identified a need for greater recognition and acknowledgment of youth work. Organizations implementing youth work programs have faced challenges in community building, a lack of understanding of youth work by decision-makers, professionals, and other stakeholders, as well as the public, difficulties in identifying appropriate stakeholders or partners, limited advocacy power for influencing policies and measures in the youth sector, and finding the right approaches to communication and achieving results or significant changes for improving the youth sector at the local, national, and even international levels. Based on the good practice of international networking among youth sector organizations, which emerged in the previous Erasmus+ project "Networking of Related Youth Organizations," we therefore addressed youth work advocacy with the "Advocating for Youth Work" project. This project empowered youth workers, especially the leaders and directors of youth centers and other youth organizations, in the areas of communication and advocacy for their work and youth work in general. Through the project and the training conducted as part of it, we empowered youth workers, as well as leaders and directors, to successfully advocate for youth work with decision-makers at the local, national, and international levels. The project objectives that we achieved through the training were as follows: • Youth workers, leaders, and directors are familiar with and implement key strategic documents at the local, national, and European levels (e.g., local Youth Strategies, national Resolution on the National Youth Program, European - European Youth Work Agenda, European Youth Strategy, Youth Work Recovery Action Plan, etc.). • Youth workers, leaders, and directors recognize the importance and scope of advocacy in the youth sector, identify the key stakeholders that need to be addressed in their work, and understand how to address them. • Youth workers, leaders, and directors recognize the needs of young people, youth organizations, and youth work and successfully communicate and advocate for them. • Transfer of good practices from participating organizations in the field of advocacy. • Support to organizations in preparing strategic action documents for representation at the local, national, and European levels.
