Project "Sodeluj in oblikuj" was created in response to a roundtable discussion at Gimnazija Celje - Center, which took place in November 2022 (during the local elections). During this discussion, young people expressed that they felt overlooked in their community and wished to be more involved in shaping the program of events/activities in the Municipality of Celje. With this project, we aimed to enable young people to connect with decision-makers and present their youth initiatives, and also to implement two of these initiatives as part of the project. In four meetings, we introduced the young people to existing opportunities in the Municipality of Celje (they were presented with associations and organizations that already organize events or activities for young people, as well as informal groups such as young ambassadors). Together with youth workers, the young people developed five youth initiatives, which they then presented to decision-makers in the form of entrepreneurial pitches. The decision-makers also served as a commission and voted on two winning initiatives (workshops for young people on topics such as sexuality, drugs, partying, etc.), which were then carried out in May. The decision-makers also encouraged the young people to realize the remaining youth initiatives even after the project ended. As a result, youth workers are still collaborating with young people to find ways to implement the remaining initiatives. One group of young people, with the help of youth workers, is organizing a side program for a festival taking place in August. With another group, youth workers are working on establishing a dialogue with local lunch providers for high school students, as the young people wish to create a database of providers that would offer student discounts. Additionally, at the end of the project, the young people, together with youth workers, prepared a short brochure with steps and guidelines for implementing youth initiatives, as well as a concluding video.
