By including young people with special needs in the training, we wanted to enable them to improve the skills and competencies necessary for a more independent life and easier entry into the labor market. We also wanted to equip the parents of young people with special needs with new knowledge, empower them, and relieve them of their worries. In our organization, we also wanted to strengthen the implementation of programs and services for young people with special needs, acquire new knowledge and tools for work, and connect and collaborate with other organizations. The partner organization wanted to acquire new knowledge and tools and use them in future programs they implement, as well as connect with organizations for new collaborations. The project also aimed to offer new knowledge and tools for working with young people with special needs to other interested organizations.
Centerkontura is a provider of vocational rehabilitation services. We provide vocational rehabilitation services with the aim of enabling people with disabilities to become qualified for suitable work, find employment, retain their jobs, and advance or change their professional careers. Our professional staff has observed that young people with special needs who have participated in vocational rehabilitation services lack the skills necessary for a more independent life, which reduces their chances of successfully entering the labor market. We decided to develop training for young people with special needs to strengthen these skills and publish a handbook that can be used by anyone working with young people with various difficulties. We believe that inclusion in employment is the best way to ensure economic independence and social inclusion.
