Objectives

The Erasmus+ programme is a key instrument of the internationalisation strategy of the Technical University of Košice (TUKE) and plays an important role in the implementation of activities within the Ulysseus European University Alliance. TUKE’s participation in the programme demonstrates its strong commitment to fostering international cooperation, enhancing the quality of education, and expanding mobility opportunities for both students and staff. Through its involvement in the Ulysseus alliance, the university is building strategic partnerships with higher education institutions across and beyond the EU, thus creating space for synergies, resource sharing, and the promotion of innovation in education and research. Within the framework of the 2023 project, we set an ambitious yet realistic goal – to carry out a total of 240 mobilities. A significant portion of these, specifically 110 mobilities, were allocated to students in order to support their international experience and increase their competitiveness in the labour market. Out of these, 80 mobilities were dedicated to study stays, allowing students to enhance their academic and language skills directly at partner universities, while 30 mobilities focused on traineeships, providing them with practical skills and valuable contacts in an international environment. Equally important was the involvement of TUKE staff, for whom 130 mobilities were allocated. This included 80 training mobilities, enabling staff to gain new knowledge, share best practices, and implement innovative approaches in their work, and 50 teaching mobilities, which supported the exchange of expertise, the internationalisation of curricula, and the strengthening of cooperation with partner institutions. In addition to individual mobilities, we also set the goal of organising three Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), which combine virtual and physical mobility formats and promote collaboration in international teams. In planning the project, we took into account the experience from previous years, when the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath led to reduced interest in international mobility, and the full allocation of grants could not be utilised. Therefore, in this call, we applied for a lower number of mobilities with the aim of focusing more on high-quality implementation and ensuring efficient use of available resources. This approach reflects TUKE’s strategic intent – to prioritise the qualitative benefits for students and staff, thereby contributing to the long-term sustainability and development of internationalisation activities.
