Objectives

The aim of our project was clear - to facilitate a double exchange of experience with young people from 4 different countries, aged 16-24 (with 24 being disadvantaged) in the cities of Sturovo and Odorheiu-Secuiesc. The initiative stemmed from a grassroots level, with the intention of providing a platform for these young individuals to gain new insights and knowledge about drugs. Our mission was to equip them with the necessary self-defence mechanisms to navigate dangerous situations related to drug use, empowering them to develop a proactive, preventive thinking to steer clear of potential dangers. The plan was to conduct two exchanges, each spanning over 9 days. The overarching goal was to help these young individuals acquire the skills and competencies needed to not only detect the presence of drugs in their surroundings but also to advocate for preventive measures within their communities. By achieving these objectives, we aimed to contribute to the reduction of drug use among young people while simultaneously creating a positive ripple effect within their peer groups and communities. The program we had envisioned was not just about imparting knowledge but about sparking a mindset shift among these young participants. We wanted them to be equipped with the tools to make informed decisions, to resist peer pressure, and to actively promote a drug-free lifestyle. The overarching objective of the project was not just short-term but aimed at impacting long-term behavior and attitudes towards drugs. As we embarked on this journey of exchange and learning, we witnessed the transformative power of collective wisdom and shared experiences. The young participants were not just passive recipients of information but active agents of change in their own right. Through discussions, workshops, and hands-on activities, they were able to explore the complex and often nuanced issue of drug use, gaining a deeper understanding of its implications and consequences. The exchanges were not just about theoretical knowledge but practical exercises as well. From role-playing scenarios to real-life case studies, the participants were exposed to a variety of learning methods designed to enhance their critical thinking and decision-making skills. By the end of the 9-day exchange, we could see a tangible shift in their attitudes and behaviors towards drugs. They were more aware, more alert, and more proactive in their approach to dealing with potential drug-related threats. As we wrap up our project, we do so with a sense of pride and accomplishment. We believe that we have not just impacted the lives of these young individuals but have sown the seeds for a larger societal change. By empowering them with the necessary tools and knowledge, we hope to see a ripple effect that extends beyond borders and boundaries, creating a safer and drug-free environment for all. Our project may have started small, but its impact has the potential to be far-reaching and transformative. From a grassroots level, the project was designed to address the pressing need for education and awareness around drug use among young people. With the rise of drug-related issues in our society, it was imperative to work towards building a generation of informed and empowered individuals who could make informed decisions and resist peer pressure related to drug consumption. The plan was structured around conducting two exchanges, each spanning over 9 days. These exchanges aimed to bring together young people from diverse backgrounds and cultures to exchange experiences, knowledge, and best practices related to drug prevention and awareness. Through interactive workshops, group discussions, and experiential learning activities, the participants were able to engage in meaningful conversations and reflections on the impact of drugs on individuals and communities. One of the key goals of the project was to help these young individuals acquire the skills and competencies needed to not only detect the presence of drugs in their surroundings but also to advocate for preventive measures within their communities. By achieving these objectives, we aimed to contribute to the reduction of drug use among young people and create a ripple effect of positive change in their communities. Throughout the exchanges, the participants were encouraged to share their personal stories, experiences, and challenges related to drug use. This open and honest dialogue fostered a sense of community and mutual support among the participants, enabling them to learn from each other and build strong bonds of friendship and solidarity. In conclusion, the double exchange project was a transformative experience for all involved. It provided a platform for young people to learn, grow, and connect with others who shared a common goal of promoting drug prevention and awareness. By empowering these young individuals with the necessary tools and knowledge, we have paved the way for a brighter.
