AKU is successfully implementing Erasmus+ KA131 student and staff exchanges with 187 partner universities across the EU. Within the scope of these agreements, we aimed to increase both student and staff mobility in line with the strategic goals of our university. In this project, we realized the mobility of 103 students for studies, 4 outgoing students for internships, 15 staff for training, and 8 staff for teaching. In total, we achieved 130 mobilities, thereby surpassing the target number set by the Turkish National Agency and demonstrating our strong institutional capacity in project implementation. The project has directly contributed to the main objectives of our International Relations Office, which can be grouped under three core categories: 1. Mobility Targets Our priority was to increase the number of students and staff benefiting from Erasmus+ opportunities. The project enabled the mobility of students abroad while also welcoming international students to our university. Furthermore, we facilitated both outgoing and incoming staff mobility for training and teaching activities. By maintaining growth in student mobility of at least 5% and ensuring staff participation levels did not fall below the three-year average, we strengthened the culture of academic and professional exchange within our institution. 2. Institutional Development Beyond mobility, the project also contributed to expanding our network of cooperation. We signed new inter-institutional agreements and continued to build sustainable partnerships, with the aim of achieving at least a 5% annual increase. Visits to both foreign and domestic institutions and internship providers created new opportunities for collaboration, joint activities, and knowledge sharing. At the same time, careful financial management ensured that over 90% of the project budget allocated by the Turkish National Agency was effectively utilized, reflecting our office’s commitment to accountability and efficiency. 3. Capacity Building and Visibility Equally important was our effort to raise awareness and enhance the visibility of Erasmus+ activities. Throughout the year, we organized more than 15 promotional events and information sessions to encourage participation and inform stakeholders. The professional development of our office staff was also prioritized, with at least half of the team attending in-service trainings at Afyon Kocatepe University as well as seminars and information meetings organized by the Turkish National Agency and the European Commission. Moreover, staff represented our university at prestigious international fairs and events, further promoting AKU on a global platform and strengthening its image as an internationally engaged institution. Overall, this project not only exceeded its quantitative mobility targets but also fostered qualitative outcomes by promoting intercultural understanding, enhancing academic competencies, and developing social, cultural, and language skills among students. For staff, the project facilitated professional networking, the sharing of best practices, and opportunities for long-term cooperation. By aligning with both national and institutional priorities, the Erasmus+ KA131 project has proven to be a significant driver of AKU’s internationalization strategy and has laid a strong foundation for future projects.
