Ankara University has adopted internationalization as one of its core strategic goals. Each year, our university is listed in international university rankings and aims to improve its position further, thereby enhancing its brand value and increasing its global visibility. Achieving these goals requires not only academic success but also multidimensional efforts such as international cooperation, student and staff mobility, and cultural exchange. In this context, the Erasmus+ KA131 Project serves as an important tool for reaching the university’s internationalization targets. Through the project, both students and staff are supported in gaining international experience, which in turn contributes to their personal development and strengthens the university’s institutional capacity. The project aims to increase the number of international students at our university, expand participation in mobility programs among our students and staff, promote academic programs offered in foreign languages, and raise awareness about international mobility across the institution. Students participating in the Erasmus program have the opportunity to study or intern in different countries, allowing them to experience new cultures, improve their language skills, and gain diverse perspectives in their academic fields. These experiences help boost students’ self-confidence and support both their academic and personal growth. For academic and administrative staff, activities such as teaching or training abroad are valuable opportunities to improve professional skills, observe best practices firsthand, and establish international collaborations. Such mobility also contributes directly to the academic quality and diversity of our university. The KA131 Project is not limited to mobility alone. It also supports broader goals such as strengthening international partnerships, increasing the effective use of foreign research funding, and encouraging joint academic and research projects. Partnerships established with universities and research institutions across Europe enable both our faculty members and students to become part of a wider academic network. In particular, enabling doctoral students to benefit from international research infrastructures helps reinforce Ankara University’s identity as a research university. Both short- and long-term research visits under the project contribute to academic publication quality and help young researchers build scientific competence. Participants who engage in mobility through the KA131 Project also gain valuable intercultural experiences. They encounter different cultures, represent their own, and experience living in multicultural environments. This process offers not only academic gains but also a chance for personal development. Participants meet new people, observe different ways of life, and improve their social skills. These experiences have a positive impact on our university’s learning environment when participants return, contributing to the development of a multicultural campus atmosphere. Furthermore, such experiences positively influence students' employability after graduation. In conclusion, the Erasmus+ KA131 Project significantly contributes to Ankara University’s internationalization efforts on both individual and institutional levels. Thanks to the project, our students and staff gain valuable international experience, while our university builds stronger ties with partner institutions across Europe. In this regard, KA131 is not merely a mobility project; it is a program that enhances Ankara University’s global recognition, improves the quality of its education and research, and supports the development of both individuals and the institution as a whole.
