Objectives

Compared to 2022, we saw a noticeable increase in the total number of mobilities in 2023, rising from 81 to 111 participants. Student mobilities grew modestly from 55 to 62, while staff mobilities nearly doubled, jumping from 26 to 50. Particularly striking was the rise in teaching mobilities, which went up from just 1 to 11. A big part of this growth can be attributed to the introduction of Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), which sparked greater engagement—especially among students. Alongside this, more effective promotion efforts and an expansion in inter-institutional agreements also played key roles in boosting participation. One of our main goals for 2023 was to increase mobility numbers across all groups, and this was made possible by a substantial increase in the budget, with an additional allocation of approximately 43% compared to 2022. This boost reflects the Turkish National Agency’s innovative approach to funding, rewarding institutions that make full use of their grants and achieve strong mobility outcomes. The Turkish National Agency's model not only encourages efficiency but also provides valuable support to institutions with smaller budgets, helping them expand their international reach. We truly appreciate the National Agency’s flexible and forward-thinking approach, which has clearly helped make the Erasmus+ programme more inclusive and effective. In past years, some of our administrative staff struggled to find suitable host institutions for their mobilities. To tackle this in 2023, we arranged group visits to partner universities. This proactive step helped overcome placement challenges and fostered a more welcoming environment for non-academic personnel. As a result, not only did we solve a persistent issue, but we also saw a significant increase in enthusiasm and participation among our administrative staff in Erasmus+ mobilities. And we also strenghtened our collaboration with partner universities.
