Bilkent University has been offering Erasmus Program opportunities to all its students and staff members since 2004 through the implementation of the pilot project and has successfully met the objectives outlined in the Erasmus Charter for Education, with a focus on increasing participation across all mobility programs. Since the inception of the Erasmus Program in Turkey, Bilkent University has consistently aimed to send and receive more students and staff each year. This commitment remains crucial to the implementation of this project. However, due to unexpected constraints such as very limited grants allocated to Bilkent, the depreciation of the Turkish Lira against the Euro, and challenges in visa procedures for outgoing students, the university has been unable to achieve the anticipated growth in student numbers at the outset of the project. The mobility figures outlined in this project are feasible through the utilization of the Organizational Support (OS) budget in addition to local funding sources. The university’s strong collaborations with leading European institutions have facilitated active participation in Erasmus mobility programs by our students and staff. This ongoing, fruitful cooperation with European partners significantly contributes to Bilkent University's broader vision of internationalization.
