Objectives

The rapidly increasing world population, unplanned industrialization and unhealthy urbanization, nuclear tests, regional wars, the use of pesticides, artificial fertilizers and increasing detergents used to increase productivity have increasingly caused environmental pollution and caused environmental problems. As a natural result of this, polluted air, water and soil have reached dimensions that will negatively affect the lives of living things. In general, environmental problems destroy the natural structure of the living environment where people live. This deteriorating natural life negatively affects the lives of all living things living in the environment. People naturally harm the environment in order to provide themselves with more comfortable and spacious living conditions. With the importance of sustainability, which is defined as activities carried out to protect natural resources and leave a good environment for future generations while meeting today's needs, nature-based activities have increased within tourism and alternative tourism types that give importance to nature have emerged. One of these types of tourism is eco-tourism. Eco-tourism is sensitive travels to natural areas, and these travels are carried out to protect the environment and to look after the welfare of the local people. This formation, which we call eco-tourism, is one of the sub-sections of sustainable tourism. According to the definition of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, ecotourism is environmentally responsible travel and visit to unspoiled natural areas that support the protection of nature and cultural resources by understanding them, have low visitor impact and provide socio-economic benefits to the local people (Kurdoğlu, 2001). In fact, the environment is an important part of our lives and we are rapidly depleting natural resources every day. Environmental pollution, which is based on many reasons, is the most important factor that endangers the lives of human beings and living beings. Environmental problems are no longer local but global. The fact that they are global means that these environmental problems affect everyone without discrimination and that common solutions should be developed. Today, the gradual disappearance of natural areas and vegetation, and the fact that these natural wonders are gradually disappearing among buildings, make today's people more nervous, and people are now moving away from these concrete blocks and turning to natural areas. The tourism movement also has a share in the formation of some of the elements that negatively affect environmental quality (Yıldırım, 1996). The perceived negative impact of tourism on the environment; destruction of natural resources, pollution, damage to cultural and historical remains, and the perceived positive effect is the improvement of activities and roads for the local people, recreational opportunities for the local people and visitors, and the protection of historical and cultural resources. When tourism is planned in an environmentally friendly way, it has many positive effects; providing more park areas for the local people, increasing the awareness and value of the environment, developing and protecting the image of the region, developing infrastructure facilities, developing public activities, and protecting touristic values. (Yon d. 2001; Koç and Stewart 2002). The effects of tourism can only be made positive with sustainable tourism activities. In general, the approach of eco-tourism is based on the combination of two important factors, namely economic development and environmental protection. All activities carried out in the field of eco-tourism should be of a nature in which the local people will actively participate, and their negative effects on the society and the environment should be almost non-existent. After all these are achieved, the local society can benefit economically. The project idea emerged after our team visited the Evcek village living area. In this context, our general goal is; to make young people more equipped about eco-tourism and to provide them with different perspectives. Our specific goals were as follows; -To teach the concept of eco-tourism to young people. -To increase the motivation of young people to become environmentally friendly individuals. -To raise awareness of the role of eco-tourism in the development of the country and the importance of sustainable ecological tourism. -To introduce young people to good practices carried out to develop eco-tourism and protect the environment. -To increase the participation of young people in social life by making them active in the dissemination of eco-tourism. -To raise awareness of local people about eco-tourism.
