Objectives

Many countries around the world have implemented very strict quarantine rules due to the Covid-19 outbreak. It can be said that curfews and restrictions are at the forefront of these rules. As a result of these restrictions, the physical activity time of young people has significantly decreased and sedentary behaviors have increased significantly. While quarantine rules made it possible to fight the pandemic, on the other hand, increased sedentary behaviors led to a different public health problem. This health problem is obesity, defined by the World Health Organization as the second most deadly disease. Because sedentary lifestyle is recognized as an important health problem as one of the main causes of obesity. Although sedentary lifestyle is the source of many diseases, it also accelerates the increase in obesity, which is an important social health problem. Especially the inactivity triggered by the pandemic process can be considered as the main source of obesity increase. Increasingly sedentary living habits due to restrictions in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic have led to the development of a fatal condition such as obesity after the pandemic. The need to combat obesity and the diseases it causes, and to reduce the risk of death, regular physical activity is one of the most important tools to reduce the risk of infection. In the United Nations (2020) report on the pandemic, it is reported that the pandemic has led to an increase in people's physical activity, restricting the space for most people to participate in individual or group activities outside their homes, unable to participate in their usual physical activities, and that these conditions have made most people less physically active. The United Nations (2020) also reported that the pandemic is expected to keep many people away from normal social life, isolate them and negatively affect their participation in physical activity. Based on all these problems and the results obtained, it can be said that people's physical activity has been restricted due to Covid-19 and unhealthy living habits have increased accordingly. It is understood that this situation accelerates the risk of obesity in societies. It is seen that physical activity and sports should be used effectively in the fight against obesity and its effects. The number of sports activities organized for young people living in rural areas is insufficient. Only young people from families with sufficient financial means can access the activities organized in the city, which eliminates equality of opportunity. While most young people continue to study online from home during the fight against Covid-19, the epidemic of the century, especially young people are expected to face serious health problems in the future by spending long hours at home. Covid-19 affects the whole world in many ways, including biological, psychological, social, cultural and economic. In this sense, many activities such as education and games negatively affect our youth. In this project, young people who will meet with sports activities will gain positive physical, psychological and social gains from sports. Especially for young people in disadvantaged conditions, sports will prevent social exclusion, distract from anti-social behaviors, create awareness in anti-discrimination sports participants, invest in the future, and ensure change and transformation. With sports and the environment provided by sports, which can be presented as an opportunity to get away from adverse environmental conditions, young people who have been locked at home during the Covid-19 pandemic, who cannot access sports, who are experiencing poverty and deprivation, will gain self-confidence, gain interest in a certain field, gain a new perspective on future expectations, and develop positive character traits. Our project has 6 specific objectives: 1- To make disadvantaged youth who do not play sports due to Covid-19 participate in sports; 2- To teach young people the importance of sports and physical activity by organizing sports trainings in different sports branches, to fight obesity and promote healthier lifestyles and to raise awareness among young people about a healthy lifestyle; 3- To make healthy lifestyles and sports accessible to all, regardless of the background of young people with limited opportunities; 4- Providing easier access to sport, physical activity and healthy nutrition with a special emphasis on inclusion and non-discrimination to reach disadvantaged youth; 5- Equip young people with practical knowledge and skills in the fight against obesity and the importance of playing sports for a healthy life; 6- Bringing disadvantaged youth together with decision-makers, involving them in decision-making processes and ensuring their active participation by openly expressing their views.
