Objectives

Cittaslow emerged in 1999 as an international movement that aims to protect local cultures, the environment and the quality of social life against the negative effects of rapid urbanization and globalization. This movement aims to create cities that support the local economy, are environmentally sensitive and self-sufficient against the urban life that has accelerated with industrialization. Cittaslow has been adopted in many countries today and in order for a city to receive this title, it must meet certain criteria such as the environment, infrastructure, protection of local products and social awareness. The ultimate goal of the movement is to protect the community spirit and local cultural heritage by creating a calm and peaceful living environment. Therefore, the starting point of our project is that today's rapidly changing social order and the fast-paced life habits brought about by the age of technology cause stress and social alienation among individuals. Fast food, fast relationships and fast lifestyles fuel individualization and open deep wounds in the socialization processes of young people. In this context, the Cittaslow (calm city) movement emerged as a reaction to the speed and monotony of modern life, and emphasizes traditional values and calm lifestyles, highlighting the importance of socialization. In this context, our project aimed to offer an alternative to this culture of speed and individualization. The Cittaslow philosophy was used as a tool to contribute to young people living a healthier and more social life without being caught up in stress and alienation. In this context, our project was developed and implemented to support the socialization of young people and to raise individuals who are resilient to the challenges of modern life. Objectives 1-Our project contributed to increasing the adaptation of participants to social life, supporting socialization processes and creating awareness against individualization. 2-Our project supported the participants to gain awareness in protecting themselves from the negative effects of fast lifestyles and stress, and in this context, using the Cittaslow concept as an instrument. 3-Our project aimed to reveal the negative effects of individualization on young people and to seek ways to reverse this process, and encouraged individual and social sensitivity. 4-Our efforts to remind young people of their social responsibilities and encourage them to take initiatives in voluntary activities and social problems were demonstrated. 5-Contribution was made to raising awareness in terms of contributing to the cultural and linguistic development of the participants and encouraging intercultural exchange. 6-More young people were made aware of the Erasmus Plus program, and the program's goals and priorities were disseminated among young people. 7-Contribution was made to raising awareness in terms of establishing dialogue, developing national and international policies, and increasing participation in youth organizations and civil society activities. 8-Our project encouraged the fight against prejudice among young people and drew attention to the need for increased intercultural interaction.
