It was seen that young people did not know what to do when faced with a disaster, how to coordinate, and did not receive the necessary training on what steps to take before, during and after the disaster, and on correct behavior. The European Commission started its work in 2014 with the Civil Protection Mechanism, which “foresees solidarity and cooperation across Europe before, during and after disasters.” The mechanism aims to ensure that human life, as well as the environment and property such as protected areas, cultural heritage, are prepared and able to intervene in all disasters such as terrorism, technological, radiological and environmental disasters, marine pollution, and acute health emergencies. aims to ensure that our youth are empowered in line with these goals with this project, and we wanted them to be prepared for natural disasters, to be able to organize in chaotic environments, to have individual and social disaster action plans and to reach the competence to guide society correctly. Our specific goals that we wanted to achieve with this project under the general goal of empowering young people against natural disasters were as follows; * To support them to gain awareness about natural disasters * To help them develop the skills of organizing in natural disasters, acquiring coordination skills for logistic support, learning psychological first aid, protecting their own well-being, and accessing accurate information * To gain the skills to prepare individual and social disaster action plans and to prepare these plans * To make young people feel that they are part of the solution to the problems the EU faces * To enable them to communicate with their European peers, to develop language skills, to develop respect and tolerance for intercultural differences, and to develop an anti-discriminatory attitude In our project, 23 young people from Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Romania and Italy (+5 leaders. Group leaders also participated in all activities of their own volition) participated in the "I'm Ready!" activity designed with informal education methods of workshops, outdoor activities, games, icebreakers, workshops and group studies for 5 days. Each young person met, talked, discussed and worked with young people from different countries under the same goals. Each young person saw and felt the language, culture and differences of their peers, and overcame their existing prejudices. We believe that with the climate of tolerance that emerged, they understood the importance of intercultural dialogue, strengthened European values such as multilingualism and respect for values, and experienced the feeling of being a European youth. Another specific goal of the Erasmus+ program for young people is to develop young people's skills and attitudes; to raise awareness about socially relevant issues and thus encourage participation and active participation in society. With our project partners, we want every individual in society to become aware of natural disasters, to realize the power of young people and to be able to use this power correctly. Thus, a young person who has developed skills and attitudes in this regard will focus more on social issues, be able to actively participate in society, determine the needs of society and gain the potential to interact with decision-makers. Our project has contributed to all the goals of the Erasmus+ program. The program also encourages us to include young people with limited opportunities. In our project, we have given priority to young people in regions that have experienced natural disasters and are more likely to experience them, and we have been inclusive in this area. In addition, we reached out to young people with limited opportunities by selecting individuals who are socio-economically disadvantaged and have never taken part in EU projects as project participants. The European Union Youth Strategy 2019-2027 includes the active participation of young people in democratic life, the establishment of connections between them, the exchange of experiences and ideas, and the empowerment of young people with "participate, connect, strengthen". The goals in the youth strategy determine the inter-sectoral areas that affect young people's lives and indicate the difficulties. In our project, we determined the deficiencies, needs, and difficulties faced by young people in natural disasters together with our partners. In this context, a young person who is strengthened in natural disasters will have gained many key skills such as organizational skills, communication skills, critical and creative thinking, making fast and correct decisions, and expressing their ideas, and will be able to ensure the active participation of young people in society
