As the leading cause of death worldwide, cancer now accounts for more than one in six deaths globally. With the World Health Organization (WHO) projecting that cancer cases will increase by 50% by 2040 compared to 2024 levels, the burden of cancer on health and the economy is likely to increase. In particular, the Middle East and North Africa Regions are on the brink of a demographic transition that will significantly impact the cancer burden over the next two to three decades. The elderly population (aged 65 years) is projected to increase by 290% between 2018 and 2050, from 28 million in 2024 to 92 million in 2050. Due to the growing and aging population, the number of newly diagnosed cancers and deaths from cancer is also increasing in the WHO Eastern Region and is expected to double by 2040 in the Mediterranean Region. Based on all these data, raising awareness on cancer prevention, raising individual and social awareness, and sensitizing patients and their relatives who have to cope with this situation have been of critical importance in terms of the aims and objectives of our project. The data we obtained showed that approximately 80-90% of cancers are caused by environmental and behavioral factors and have the potential to be prevented. For all these reasons, with our project, we tried to raise awareness among youth workers and young participants about the work in the field of cancer. At the same time, in order to provide added value to Turkey's and the EU's anti-cancer efforts, we contributed to increasing cancer knowledge among young people and raising awareness about the measures to be taken to prevent cancer. We also emphasized the importance of sports and healthy nutrition in cancer prevention and raised awareness and sensitivity on cancer prevention. Thus, we contributed to the awareness of youth workers and their peers. In addition to these, 1-We contributed to the internalization of learning methods for the professional development of youth workers. 2-We helped to raise individual and social awareness about cancer. 3-We encouraged youth workers and young participants to overcome their prejudices against all disadvantaged groups. 4-We tried to contribute to the enlightenment of youth workers and our target audience about the fight against cancer in Europe and Turkey, to realize the importance of cancer prevention and to be informed about the work done. 5-We provided an opportunity for youth workers and young participants to improve their English language skills. 6-We provided an opportunity for youth workers and our target audience to get to know different cultures. 7-We supported youth workers, young participants, target group and local people to be informed about the opportunities offered by Erasmus+ Programs. 8-We ensured that youth workers, target group, young participants and local people are informed about the Turkish National Agency. 9-We made efforts to draw attention to the importance of combating discrimination and prejudice, the importance of voluntary work, environmental sustainability, digital primacy and equal opportunities within the main objectives and priorities of Erasmus+ projects.
