In the contemporary world, due to the prevalence of global challenges, individuals from various nationalities are compelled to reside within different national borders out of necessity. This situation imposes numerous responsibilities on host nations that accommodate refugee communities. Given the presence of refugees from multiple countries, it is evident that Türkiye is among the nations bearing such responsibilities. Upon examining the living conditions of a significant number of refugees from diverse nationalities in Türkiye , various issues related to the concept of accessibility have been identified. One of the most critical problems documented is the adverse linguistic experiences refugees encounter while accessing healthcare services. This project aims to raise awareness about the negative linguistic experiences of refugees in Türkiye during their access to healthcare services, to bring accessible healthcare policies to the forefront, to implement healthcare approaches that facilitate language compatibility, to enhance communication skills within healthcare services, and to address the psychological issues refugees face due to language barriers that hinder their access to healthcare services, while also proposing alternative solutions. Under normal circumstances, the process of learning a formal language in a foreign country is often described in the literature as "the ability to survive by learning the language within a newly encountered culture." In essence, language serves as a tool for cultural affiliation, and it is an undeniable fact that mastering the language of a culture is essential for existing within that culture. Although conventional language learning processes or language support mechanisms may suffice in certain situations, it is observed that in scenarios where international preparedness is lacking, both refugees and host countries face significant challenges in accessing basic needs. The primary objectives of this project have been formulated within the framework of the aforementioned importance of language. When examining the reasons why individuals rely on language, the most significant factor identified is the "need to express." This need to express encompasses all concrete and abstract content when considering one's native language. However, when an individual arrives in a region where a language they know little or nothing about is dominant, this expressive ability in their native language is reduced to the level of articulating basic needs. If this reduction cannot be achieved, it is unlikely that the individual can maintain a healthy life. Healthcare services are among the essential services that constitute basic needs and absolutely require the active use of language at a fundamental level. As can be understood from the explanations provided, in a country where refugees accessing healthcare services are present, the steps taken to address language-related issues in this context must be multifaceted and concern various human communities. Based on these necessities, all studies conducted within the scope of this project aim to address the experiences of refugees in accessing healthcare services from different perspectives and to generate solutions around these variables. In addition to these objectives, this project also aims to develop competencies related to multilingualism, awareness of foreign language learning, and transnational utility, as outlined in the Erasmus+ program objectives in accordance with EU policies. Through various studies conducted within the scope of this project, it is intended to enhance these competencies among participants.
