Objectives

The main objective of our project was to enable young people to define the employment-related challenges they face, to discuss these issues with representatives from different sectors, and to develop practical and solution-oriented proposals which could be shared directly with decision-makers. The project aimed not only at providing individual learning opportunities but also at generating a collective impact by producing concrete policy recommendations in the field of youth employment. The starting point of the project was the recognition that young people’s economic anxieties and employment difficulties constitute a significant social problem. In this respect, the project positioned young people as the main actors and offered them the opportunity to express their challenges in a constructive and functional way. Another important objective was to increase participants’ knowledge of sectors in which they were not directly involved, to broaden their sectoral awareness, and to support their ability to relate these insights to their own fields of study or career paths. Through interactive sessions with representatives from the private sector, public institutions, and civil society, participants had the opportunity to directly engage with professionals and decision-makers. These encounters strengthened young people’s self-confidence, enhanced their communication and problem-solving skills, and enabled them to gain insight into employment opportunities across different fields. As a result, the project shifted the focus of young participants from difficulties and anxieties towards new opportunities, hope, and constructive perspectives. Another crucial objective of the project was to ensure that the outputs went beyond individual learning and contributed to wider societal benefits. For this reason, the solutions and perspectives developed by young people were compiled into a policy document entitled “A Multi-Sectoral Perspective on Youth Employment.” This document, created with the direct contribution of participants, was shared with relevant stakeholders and policy-makers to highlight young people’s voice in the employment debate. In doing so, the project not only supported the personal growth of the participants but also contributed to the broader discourse on youth employment at the societal level. In summary, the objectives of our project were: to strengthen young people’s capacity to identify and articulate their problems, to develop and present solution-oriented approaches, to increase their employability skills and self-confidence, and to create concrete policy proposals that would contribute to the improvement of youth employment through a multi-sectoral perspective.
