The objective to be wanted to achieve by project was to develop rapid and effective disaster response organization and to help minimizing errors and losses during recovery efforts by providing the proper and right search&rescue and interoperability skills for semi-professional groups such as mine workers, construction equipment operators, construction and infrastructure workers. Although these vocational groups have different expertise in areas such as excavation, fortification or demolition removal in collapsed areas, they do not have sufficient holistic skills and competence within the framework of disaster response and search and rescue strategies. It was aimed to professionalize these groups, who don't have full competence in disaster response, by developing their cross-skills related to disasters with innovative educational resources.
The project is about the inclusion of personnel in various vocational groups, other than professional search and rescue units, in the golden hours of search and rescue activities, by receiving adequate training in a possible devastating disaster. Since the number of destroyed and damaged buildings in earthquakes that cause great destructions is very high, the number of team-persons engaged in search and rescue activities may be insufficient. In such cases, it is needed to the teams and individuals who participate directly in the search and rescue activities. despite the own vocational experience and dedication, since each group has different working procedures, the correct search-rescue and interoperability with other professions skills in the debris field may be insufficient, which may cause loss of time and energy in disaster response. This project was designed to help miners, infrastructure-superstructure and construction workers, who are not fully competent in disaster response, become professionals by improving their disaster-related skills.
