Objectives

By implementing the project, we aimed to develop an innovative and inclusive framework for music education tailored to young people with autism and to strengthen the professional competences of educators working in this field. Our primary objective was to create and validate a comprehensive “Guide to Good Practice Techniques in Music Education for Young People with Autism,” grounded in transnational expertise and practical experience. We also sought to design and launch a sustainable digital platform that would host e-learning materials, practical training videos, and an interactive Music Talent Identification Game to support early detection of musical abilities. Another key goal was to foster collaboration among universities, educators, digital developers, and special education specialists across Europe, promoting innovation in vocational education and training. Ultimately, we aimed to enhance equal access to quality music education, increase awareness of inclusive pedagogies, and contribute to the social participation and empowerment of young people with autism.

Background

We applied for this project to respond to the urgent need for inclusive, structured, and evidence-based music education practices for young people with autism, and we are proud to state that we have successfully addressed these needs. At the beginning of the project, music educators reported significant difficulties due to the lack of specialized curricula, pedagogical materials, and digital tools tailored to autistic learners. Through transnational collaboration, we developed and published the “Guide to Good Practice Techniques in Music Education for Young People with Autism,” supported by practical training videos and an interactive digital platform. The Music Talent Identification Game we designed now enables early detection of musical abilities and supports appropriate educational guidance. The project has strengthened the professional competences of music educators, increased access to high-quality inclusive music education, and fostered cooperation between universities, digital experts, and practitioners. Most importantly, it has contributed to the social inclusion and empowerment of young people with autism across partner countries.
