Objectives

This project aimed to promote the use of STEM practices in youth work and to strengthen the capacity of organizations operating in this field. Within the scope of the project, the skills of youth workers in designing and implementing STEM-based educational activities were enhanced, and young people’s scientific thinking, problem-solving, and digital competences were supported. Through international partnerships, the exchange of good practice examples was ensured, and the use of innovative learning methods in youth work was increased. In addition, sustainable cooperation networks were established among institutions, and the project results were disseminated to wider audiences through the developed educational materials and the online platform. The project also contributed to improving the quality of youth work in the long term.

Background

It was observed that science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields were not used effectively enough in youth work, and that the capacity of civil society organizations in this area was particularly limited. In this context, the need for innovative methods, practical tools, and international good practice examples to increase young people’s interest in STEM fields was clearly identified. Based on this need, the project contributed to strengthening the capacity of organizations active in the youth field to develop STEM-based education and activities, while also enhancing young people’s scientific thinking, problem-solving, and digital skills. Furthermore, knowledge and experience sharing at the international level was achieved through the collaborations established during the project. Within the scope of the project, training activities were carried out to enable youth workers to use STEM practices more effectively; a guide including good practice examples was developed; an online sharing platform was created; and dissemination activities were implemented. As a result of these efforts, the quality of youth work was improved and young people were better prepared with the skills needed for the future.
