Objectives

Through this project, we aimed to develop a new-generation training design that complements the certification system for rail system vehicle maintenance personnel. The project focused on creating a high-quality vocational education model supported by digital and traditional learning materials and aligned with labor market needs. We also aimed to integrate a training module into a mobile application, implement a pilot training program, and certify successful candidates. By offering international internship opportunities and supporting the employment of at least five participants, the project sought to establish a strong link between vocational education and the labor market. Additionally, the project aimed to reduce skills mismatches, promote continuous professional development, and enhance the competencies of candidates, ultimately improving the overall quality and sustainability of vocational education in the railway sector.

Background

We applied for this project to address the need for a quality-assured training model supporting the certification system for rail system vehicle maintenance personnel. While occupational standards and certification were already defined, a structured training design was missing. With mandatory certification introduced, the sector required better-qualified staff and improved workforce skills. The needs analysis showed that candidates struggled in certification exams without proper training and emphasized the importance of accessible digital learning tools. Therefore, the project aimed to develop innovative curricula aligned with labor market needs, support digital transformation in vocational education, reduce skills mismatches, and prepare candidates for certification and employment. Ultimately, it contributed to improving the quality of vocational education and strengthening a sustainable skilled workforce in the railway sector.
