Objectives

The aim of the project was to build and establish a cross-regional Community of Practice (CoP) to promote exchange-based and work-related learning formats in the field of artificial intelligence within professional practice. This aim was significantly supported by the organisation of regular networking events (meet-ups) and the active involvement of participants from Austria and Germany. This created low-threshold access to AI topics, appealing to both beginners and advanced users. Through practical formats, joint experimentation and the direct exchange of experiences, reservations were reduced and informal and co-creative learning processes within the community were promoted. Particular emphasis was placed on involving participants from urban and rural regions, thereby achieving broad regional roots for the community. Furthermore, the development of suitable formats, learning materials and digital structures has created a sustainable foundation that enables the continuation and independent further development of the Community of Practice beyond the project’s duration.

Background

The CoPAI project was initiated in response to the growing need for practical learning and exchange formats in the field of artificial intelligence. Many organisations identified a clear need, particularly among those with little prior experience, for low-threshold access to AI and for formats directly relevant to professional practice. The project partners contributed diverse perspectives from the fields of software development, artificial intelligence, community building and education. The aim was to pool these skills and create a space in which AI could not only be taught theoretically, but also tested and reflected upon collaboratively. The project was proposed with the aim of specifically addressing these needs through practical, community-based learning formats.
