Objectives

In this project, we build upon our international strategy with the aim of encouraging young people in an accessible and inclusive way to broaden their horizons—both literally and figuratively. We want to introduce them to independent travel within the European Union and inspire them to explore a destination of their own choosing. This first international experience is approached from an empowerment perspective: young people take the lead and are encouraged to make autonomous and independent decisions. This process is carefully supported through peer mentoring and a guided pathway facilitated by a team of internationalisation teachers, both on an individual and group level. In doing so, we create a safe learning environment where young people can build self-confidence and overcome mechanisms of social exclusion. The project specifically targets young people in socially vulnerable situations. Through their participation, they expand their knowledge and develop a wide range of skills: planning, organising, researching information, using digital tools, communicating, making informed choices, and managing a budget. The ultimate goal is to foster their personal development and enhance their overall well-being in a sustainable way. We deliberately offer this project outside of regular school hours, based on our strong belief that educational institutions can also play a meaningful role in youth work beyond the classroom. This project is built around three key learning dimensions, which will be further elaborated in the pedagogical section.
