Objectives

The project aimed to: Increase knowledge and understanding of the prevalence, forms, legislation, and impacts of Cyber Violence Against Women and Girls. Raise awareness among young people about safer online behaviour and the prevention of online gender-based violence. Empower girls and young women to recognise, prevent, and respond to cyber violence. Equip youth workers, educators, and other professionals with practical educational resources, methodologies, and skills to address CVAWG in their work. Promote transnational learning by exchanging knowledge and good practices among partners from both EU Member States and Ukraine, ensuring that the developed resources respond to diverse cultural, educational, and social contexts and have wider European and international relevance.

Background

CyberEqual was developed to address the growing problem of Cyber Violence Against Women and Girls, which has increased alongside the widespread use of digital technologies. The project responded to the lack of evidence-based educational resources, limited awareness among young people, and insufficient training for youth workers and educators to effectively prevent and address online gender-based violence. It also aimed to strengthen digital safety, promote gender equality, and ensure that vulnerable groups could access appropriate information, support, and prevention tools. The participation of the Ukrainian partner brought valuable expertise and practical experience from a non-associated third country, enriching the project's understanding of cyber violence in different social and geopolitical contexts and strengthening the relevance and transferability of the project's results beyond the European Union.
