Objectives

In the pursuit of addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by our school, we embarked on the ASI (Ať snahou inspirují /Aspire&Inspire)) project with a clear vision and set of objectives. The project was designed to tackle several pressing issues: 1) lnclusion of Underprivileged Students: Many of our students come from socio-culturally disadvantaged backgrounds, especially in the hilly and mountainous regions of the White Carpathians and other parts of the Czech Republic. These areas often grapple with high unemployment rates and limited opportunities for gainful employment, leading to skepticism towards European structures. Nearly half of our students come from single-parent or divorced families, with financial constraints limiting their exposure to cultural heritage through study excursions both within the Czech Republic and abroad. The ASI project aimed to bridge this gap, allowing students with varying disadvantages to explore art and cultural heritage, gain a deeper understanding of the EU, and become ambassadors for the EU among their peers and communities, gain the pro-eco attitude to everyday behaviour. All of these objectives were successfully met. 2) Mental Health and Social Skills: A rising number of students were grappling with anxiety disorders. The increased anxiety, worsened cooperation skills among peers, and diminished motivation to do something for others had become apparent. Decline in cooperative skills is not due to students' unwillingness to organize events but rather stems from the loss of organizational skills passed down in direct communication between grade levels. The project changes this dramatically. Furthermore, excessive use of social media, often without content filtering or content creation, had become a concerning trend. The ASI project, guided by experienced mentors and micro-mentors (participants from the project of2023), was structured to empower students to work in teams with clear objectives, set goals, and collaborate effectively. lt aimed to instil the understanding that team efforts are beneficial to all members and encouraged mutual support and understanding. Throughout their journeys, students were asked to create digital content, which they shared through the school website and social media, thereby acquiring new skills. 3) Gender Identity and Acceptance:The school is witnessing a growing number of students exploring their gender identities. Although the school makes efforts to create a safe and friendly environment for all students, many still report struggles with self-acceptance and acceptance by others, both within their families and the broader community. The ASI project intended to facilitate interactions with young people across Europe, contributing to a harmonized sense of self-acceptance and acceptance of others. ln this respect the project was a great success. ln light of these challenges, our main objectives were to assist as many students with various disadvantages as possible. This encompassed fostering inclusivity, enhancing social and cooperative skills, digital skills and promoting self-acceptance and acceptance of others. We aimed to empower our students to navigate the challenges they face in an ever-changing world. The ASI project has been a resounding success, achieving these objectives and much more. Through a combination of cultural exploration, team collaboration, and exposure to diverse perspectives, purposeful use of digital technologies, our students have grown not only academically but also personally. They have become ambassadors of unity, tolerance, and cultural understanding, both within our school and in the wider community. The project has left a lasting impact on our students and has set the stage for continued growth and development. This can be seen by the extent of the cooperation with the prospective projet participants in the year 2025.
