Through the implementation of the project, we aimed to achieve concrete and measurable outcomes directly aligned with the identified needs and EU priorities. First, we focused on strengthening participants’ intercultural competences to enhance their ability to interact effectively in diverse environments and to support their sustainable social inclusion. Secondly, the project aimed to improve participants’ understanding of key global challenges such as sustainable development, human rights, and active citizenship, by making these concepts accessible, practical, and relevant to their daily lives. A core objective was to foster active civic engagement by empowering participants to take initiative, contribute to their communities, and actively participate in local decision-making processes. In addition, the project aimed to develop key transversal competences, including teamwork, communication, and project management, thereby increasing participants’ personal, social, and professional capacities. Finally, the project sought to ensure long-term impact by strengthening cooperation between partner organisations, promoting the exchange of good practices, and contributing to a sustainable European network with strong added value.
We applied for this project in response to clearly identified needs from our ongoing work with adult migrants and people with migration backgrounds, supported by direct participant feedback. Many face barriers to active civic participation due to limited access to information, low self-confidence, and a lack of inclusive and safe spaces for engagement. We also identified a gap in access to adapted learning on key EU priorities such as sustainable development, human rights, and active citizenship. These topics are often not accessible to individuals facing linguistic and educational barriers, limiting their involvement in democratic life. In addition, existing training offers were often too theoretical and lacked participatory approaches, reducing their effectiveness. Therefore, the project was strategically designed to provide inclusive, practical, and competence-based learning. It aimed to strengthen civic competences, foster active participation at local level, and contribute to more inclusive communities, while reinforcing European cooperation and exchange of good practices.
